Under the BIND scheme, listeners and viewers will be provided high quality content by expanding their reach to areas affected by left-wing extremism, border and strategic areas. Doordarshan operates 36 TV channels including 28 regional channels and All India Radio operates more than 500 broadcasting stations. The scheme will increase the coverage of AIR FM transmitters in the country from 59 percent to 66 percent geographically and from 68 percent to 80 percent population wise.
