Display and Design

The gadget has a premium metal case made of aluminum alloy and a unibody design. The matte-finished back panel provides a solid grip for holding the device firmly. It also resists staining well. There are three colors available for the tablet: lavender purple, mint green, and graphite grey. The latter is our unit of review.

With two speakers on each side (arranged in a landscape orientation), the gadget can produce stereo sound. The Dolby Atmos sound system is configured for the speakers. Despite having a thin profile, the Redmi Pad SE has a 3.5mm audio jack—a feature that is becoming increasingly uncommon in tablets these days. It measures 7.36mm thick. It is lightweight (478g) and portable. In addition, there is a power button at the top, a volume rocker, and a SIM slot on the right side (portrait orientation).

It has an 11.0-inch full HD screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz thanks to AdaptiveSync on the front. It provides a maximum brightness of 400 nits. In addition, the video toolbox has a unique feature called Reading Mode 3.0. It can activate a paper-like display texture for e-book reading. Users can read novels for extended periods without experiencing eye strain thanks to the screen’s dramatic reduction in blue light emission and slight darkening of the screen.

Camera Hardware

The device features an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. Typically, people do not use a tablet’s camera to take photos; instead, they use it for productivity tasks such as scanning documents and converting to PDFs. However, they have to rely on third-party apps. So Xiaomi built a document scanner into the native camera app, freeing up space for other apps. Furthermore, the camera can record HD (720p) video at 30 frames per second (fps). This is more than adequate for video calling.
