Aditya Srivastava Reveals His Secret to Success

Aditya Srivastava, who topped the UPSC IAS exam in 2023, shared his strategy for improving from the 236th rank the previous year to the first rank. In 2022, he secured the 236th rank and opted for the Indian Police Service (IPS).

In an exclusive interview, Aditya Srivastava explained, “I focused mainly on identifying and correcting the mistakes I made previously or those I perceived I had made. For General Studies papers 1 and 4, I pinpointed the reasons why I fell behind compared to the top scorers and worked on rectifying those errors. I believe this was the primary factor that moved me from rank 236 to rank one.”

“The key change I made was conducting an in-depth analysis of previous year’s papers, including prelims, and identifying the various patterns followed by UPSC in terms of sentence structure, question framing, and the type of answers provided by top performers,” added Aditya Srivastava.

Furthermore, he guided individuals preparing for the UPSC civil service examination, emphasizing that persistence and self-motivation are critical components of success. Aditya Srivastava also discussed his initial emotions upon learning that he had passed the UPSC IAS exam. He mentioned feeling anxious upon receiving the news. “I wish you success in your future endeavors!” he added. “When I saw the result, I was overjoyed,” he continued.

“Implement all the schemes that the government is making for the people to the best of my ability” is what the IAS topper stated would be his first responsibility upon assuming his new position. “After that, if I get a chance at a public policymaking level, then I would like to work for children, specifically in health and education,” he stated. Thanking his parents for their support, Aditya Srivastava remarked, “Whatever I am today is because of them.” He claimed that when they first heard the news, they were a little emotional before becoming ecstatic.
